I paint to evoke in myself and in the viewer that transcendent dimension of aesthetic experience I think of as the divine emotion.
It does not arise from argument or fame.
It is about feeling the eternal now and a radiant sense of being.
Art history is punctuated with such moments.
In the studio I seek to mediate between a sense of history
and an ineffable experience of the cosmos.
An artist’s life so devoted may yield a meaningful contribution to the history of painting.
